Instrumentation Controls Technician – Overview

An Instrumentation Controls Technician designs, troubleshoots, and maintains machine controls using PLCs, PC’s, HMIs, motor drives, and other instrumentation/controls. The role ensures reliable operation of new equipment, prepares operating and training manuals, and trains maintenance staff. Responsibilities

Develop control, data collection, and signal processing systems. Troubleshoot existing PLCs, HMIs, motor drives, electronic circuits, electro‑mechanical systems, PID controllers, and electronic sensors of all types. Ensure satisfactory operation of new equipment; prepare operating and training manuals. Train maintenance staff to service critical electronic components. Monitor and adjust equipment to validate product quality. Qualifications

Minimum 5 years in electrical and electronics field. Strong process control background, including temperature & pressure controls, strain gages/load cells, signal conditioners, lasers. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Competent with PLC programming, control panel layout and construction. Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Flexible and open‑minded to assist and perform any task as required by management.
