Overview

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt failsafe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to five years without the need to refuel. Radiant aims to provide portable nuclear power with rapid deploy capability for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Founded in 2020, Radiant is testing its first reactor at Idaho National Laboratory with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028. Position

Radiant is seeking an Engineering Technician who will fabricate and assemble development microreactor units, build large and small-scale test rigs, create prototype parts and tooling, source tools, handle materials, and contribute with autonomy and initiative. The technician will build and maintain the prototype shop at the El Segundo HQ and use a variety of shop activities (machining, welding, metal forming, electrical work, plumbing). You will contribute technically and support the path toward fueling a new reactor design in over 50 years by 2026. Responsibilities and Duties

Perform MIG, TIG, and tube welding on various metals including stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols. Operate welding equipment and tools with precision to meet tight tolerances. Conduct inspections to ensure welds meet internal and external quality standards. Assist with basic machining (lathe, mill, drill press). Perform electrical work (wiring, troubleshooting, assembling components). Support assembly and testing of mechanical or electro-mechanical systems. Collaborate with engineers and technicians to improve weld and build processes. Required Skills and Qualifications

5+ years of professional welding experience with MIG, TIG, and tube welding. Proficient with welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel. Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to use traditional inspection tools for inspection of parts and assemblies. Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret tolerances. Ability to read and interpret fluid or electrical schematics. Experience with manufacturing using machine tools, saws, grinders, etc. Ability to work in outdoor environments as needed and at elevated heights occasionally (scissor lifts, ladders). Ability to travel occasionally for offsite support. Desired Skills and Qualifications

Experience with high pressure and temperature systems. Experience with CNC programming and manual machine operation. GD&T interpretation experience (preferred). Knowledge of electrical components and high voltage systems. Experience operating safely in shop environments. Experience lifting, rigging, and assisting with heavy crane operations of complex parts. Proficient computer skills; comfortable with email and Microsoft Office. Additional Requirements

Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed to achieve company goals. Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ. Total Compensation and Benefits
