The Food Safety & Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS) is fully implemented and functional, and that the facility and products meet safety and regulatory requirements. The role also emphasizes quality awareness and continuous improvement programs to advance overall quality performance. The facility has undergone recent capital investment to upgrade equipment and capabilities. The Manager will lead several direct-report Supervisors and Food Safety, Quality and Sanitation teams. Responsibilities
Lead integration of current quality assurance and food safety processes into one integrated process aligned with business objectives, including HACCP (Food Safety Plan), regulatory audits, quality systems review process (QSR), SOPs, incoming ingredient inspections, food safety audits, field complaints, managing Statistical Process Control, calibration and preventive maintenance programs, and standardized work instructions. Develop and execute plans to achieve and maintain safe food and SQF Certification at the facility and meet all company requirements related to quality and food safety programs. Oversee plant compliance and interactions with SQF Certification Body and consultants. Act as the facility’s primary FDA contact and lead regulatory inspections and 3rd party audits, with joint ownership and responsibility with the Plant Manager for driving corrective actions. Develop and maintain systems to ensure the facility meets all SQF requirements including Commitment, Document Control and Records, Specifications, and Attaining Food Safety. Oversee monitoring, verification, and validation activities to ensure all products leaving the facility meet the facility Food Safety and Quality Plans. Manage/oversee pest control contracts and microbiological testing to ensure compliance with SQF and Quality standards. Lead the development and implementation of statistical tools and systems to support continuous process and product improvement. Act as an active contributor on the Facility Management Team to meet business objectives and manage and develop all QA personnel. Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or related field. 4+ years of FSQA experience within food manufacturing. Demonstrated leadership in food safety and plant regulatory affairs. HACCP Certification / PCQI Certification preferred. Experience auditing FSQ Management Systems, including internal and external audits for compliance. Experience with FDA and/or USDA rules and regulations. Contact
