Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimating Manager to join our Water Civil preconstruction team in Phoenix, Dallas, or St. Louis. The Estimating Manager will lead or manage the preparation of civil estimates for CMAR and Design Build projects across the country, focusing on earthwork, sitework, and yard piping.
Key Responsibilities
Develop or manage civil cost models and GMP estimates for CMAR and Design Build projects.
Perform quantity take‑offs.
Participate in the internal estimate review process and assemble final estimate presentations for owners.
Evaluate bids and develop scope comparison documents.
Prepare contractual exhibits for subcontract scope and direct information to subcontractors.
Collaborate with internal partners and engineers to influence project design.
Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients, and represent McCarthy at industry events.
Review project documents to identify value engineering suggestions and alternative pricing.
Communicate with engineers and owners to clarify scope, materials, and schedule requirements.
Sk. & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering, and/or 5–10 years of applicable estimating, design management, or field management experience.
Self‑perform civil experience (preconstruction or operations) strongly desired.
General knowledge of civil construction; specific experience in water and wastewater treatment plant projects preferred.
Understanding of cost model and GMP processes.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
Experience with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, On‑Screen Takeoff) preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Strong math, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
