Naval Architect Position
Join a small company atmosphere with marine engineers, naval architects, and designers to tackle engineering challenges. Projects will involve newbuild and refit designs on various vessels, including ships, yachts, tugboats, pleasure boats, and passenger vessels. Responsibilities
Create engineering drawings for new construction and refit projects. Manage projects by creating work scopes and schedules, communicating with clients, coordinating technical vendors, and attending project meetings. Oversee the class and regulatory submittal, review, and approval process. Some travel and fieldwork required; engineers must work safely aboard ships and in shipyard environments, including climbing ladders and navigating confined spaces. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture. Working knowledge of shipbuilding rules and regulations, classification society, and Coast Guard requirements. Knowledge of propulsion and steering design. Competency in AutoCAD. Familiarity with AutoHydro (or GHS). Valid driver's license, US passport, and TWIC card (or ability to obtain). Preferred Qualifications
1-3 years' experience in the maritime industry. Familiarity with machinery and systems aboard commercial ships, workboats, tug/barges, passenger vessels, and yachts. Experience in shipyard newbuild or repair engineering and construction. Understanding of marine structural engineering. Experience with class and USCG submittal and approval processes. Proficiency in Rhino or ShipConstructor software. Employment Details
