Overview
Houston Engineering, Inc. (HEI) is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to protect our natural resources by solving complex water resources issues involving both water quantity and quality. Location: Fargo, ND.
This Engineer (PE) - Water Resources opening is suitable for candidates looking to take on a project management role or for experienced Water Resources Engineers seeking a better fit. You will work with a strong team of Water Resources Engineers to advance your skills.
HEI is a full-service civil engineering, surveying, environmental, and technology solutions consulting firm with multiple locations throughout the Midwest. Our water resources engineers work on projects including design work for dams, levees, lakes, streams, stormwater management, flood risk reduction, watershed planning, hydraulic structures, and other related Water Resources Engineering projects.
Responsibilities
Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to design various project features and ArcGIS for watershed planning.
Prepare studies, reports, and design documents to support plans and specifications for civil and water resources projects and watershed planning efforts.
Complete engineering analyses and calculations.
Prepare outlines of engineering services, scope of work, and associated budgets.
Develop solutions for various types of Water Resource projects.
Assist in client contact and communications.
Perform project management duties.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering field.
Minimum 4 years of experience in civil and water resources engineering.
ND Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain the license within 6 months.
Basic understanding of water resources and related regulations in the Midwest.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Superior problem solving and analytical skills.
Solid critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
Positive attitude under pressure, strong team player, responsible, and self-motivated.
Excellent leadership and project management skills.
Preference given to candidates with experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, or hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.
Valid driver’s license in good standing with availability for periodic travel.
Must be authorized to work in the United States permanently without the requirement of sponsorship at any point in the future. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
