Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Structural Engineer
WSP is initiating a search for a Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Structural Engineer to join the Structures Bridge Design Team in our New England offices (Boston, MA; Worcester, MA; Providence, RI; Merrimack, NH; Glastonbury, CT). This role is suitable for someone new to people leadership and interested in becoming a Team Leader. Responsibilities
Work with the Bridge/Highway Design Team on project development and design tasks. Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections. Assist in the preparation of Bridge Load Ratings. Work as a Team Member on Bridge Inspections. Assist with development of plans/sketches using AutoCAD. Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, planners, and scientists to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects. Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers. Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills, including project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations. Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates; assist in maintaining project documentation. Remain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practices. Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies; exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline. 5 to 7 years of experience in bridge inspection or design or related bridge work. Engineer in Training Certification. Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles and their application to project work. Interest in structures/transportation; desire to advance skills related to WSP’s projects. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences. Ability to work independently and provide guidance/leadership to junior team members. Advanced proficiency with technical writing, Office software, and related tools; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP health, safety, and harassment policies. Flexibility to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek; occasional travel may be required. Preferred Qualifications
Essential Professional Licensure/Certification. Working knowledge of AutoCAD. Active participation in local professional practice organizations.
