Position Description Lays out, positions, aligns and fits together fabricated parts of structural metal products preparatory to welding or riveting according to customers plans and drawings. Must perform duties in a safe and timely manner with the highest degree of quality possible. Job Responsibilities Study specifications and blueprints to determine materials required. Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques. Lay out, position, align, and fit components together. Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding. Assemble and fit metal sections and plates to form sub-units for welding or bolting and rig, hoist and move materials within work-site. Setup and operate heavy metal-working machines to cut, shape, bend, form, punch, drill or otherwise form the metal. Install fabricated components in final products. Other duties as assigned.
