IMEG is growing and we’re seeking an Electrical Project Engineer 1 out of our Idaho Falls, ID or Sacramento, CA office. We lead and collaborate on electrical design solutions for buildings, with responsibilities spanning project management or lead engineering on low to moderate complexity projects and collaboration with senior staff on larger, high-complexity projects. This role includes engineering analysis, design, and oversight of electrical systems within project budgets while mentoring and coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet client expectations. Principal Responsibilities

Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, using engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards. Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication. Work as part of a project team to support consulting projects; lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives. Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring design progress relative to percent complete and fee expended. Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative, practical solutions; collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop efficient outcomes. Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, and specifications; implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet standards and client requirements. Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; contribute to R&D and innovation efforts within IMEG. Prioritize safety in all engineering work and identify mitigations for potential safety risks. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals; identify potential issues and seek guidance from the Project Manager; oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases. Required Skills/Abilities

Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts used to produce technical plans and specifications. Strong technical and analytical skills in circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to building electrical design. Proficiency with industry-standard software for lighting design (e.g., AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting), power system analysis (e.g., SKM/PTW, Easy Power), energy compliance (e.g., ComCheck), and document management (Adobe or Bluebeam Revu). Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards. Familiarity with reference resources (NFPA, TechStreet, MadCAD, Facility Guideline Institute) and Master Specification tools (eSPECS, BIM, Revit add-ins). Experience with Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) tools within Revit for electrical calculations and coordination. Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff; excellent written and verbal communication; strong teamwork and problem-solving skills. Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Willingness to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays. Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required. Professional Engineer (PE) License required. Minimum 2 years of experience in the building design consulting industry; 4 years preferred. Note: This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift up to 25 pounds. Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull. Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises. Locations Available

Idaho Falls, ID Sacramento, CA Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000 annually. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. Individual pay will be based on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
