Overview
The Senior Telecommunications Network Engineer provides advanced technical expertise, leadership, and oversight in the design, implementation, and management of complex telecommunications and LAN/WAN systems supporting the DoD. This role evaluates, designs, and manages secure, resilient, and high-performing networks enabling mission-critical voice, data, and video services. The Senior Engineer serves as a technical authority and mentor, ensuring compliance with agency and DoD standards while supporting enterprise-wide modernization and sustainment of telecommunications infrastructure. Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, and analysis of telecommunications networks, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and voice/data systems. Manage evaluation and cost estimation for carrier WAN services, network hardware, and telecommunications solutions. Provide technical and administrative direction for personnel engaged in telecommunications design, implementation, and operations. Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of complex network and telecommunications systems. Ensure networks meet DoD security requirements, including compliance with the NISPOM, 8140, and system configuration standards. Review technical work products to ensure accuracy, adherence to design standards, and progress against schedules. Recommend and approve major network installations and modifications. Develop milestone reports, technical briefings, and deliverables for government stakeholders. Mentor junior engineers and provide subject matter expertise in advanced telecommunications engineering. Support troubleshooting of escalated issues and provide root cause analysis for complex network problems. Requirements

Active and current Secret federal security clearance At least seven (7) years of network operations experience, with strong focus on telecommunications and LAN/WAN environments Higher-level education or military service may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience Experience leading teams in the design and management of enterprise telecommunications networks Experience supporting DoD or Federal telecommunications environments required DoD 8140 Baseline Certification: IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, SSCP) At least one Computing Environment (CE) certification: CCSA, CCSE, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, RHCSA, RHCE, WSHAA or AZ-104 Must hold a Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) certification Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field Proven ability to lead teams across geographically dispersed facilities Expertise in carrier-based WAN services, wireless voice/data networks, and VoIP systems Strong knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, standards, and compliance requirements Ability to develop and deliver high-quality technical reports and presentations Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for resolving complex network issues Effective communication and leadership skills to interface with senior government and contractor stakeholders Physical Demands and Work Environment
