Corrections Utility Plant Operator - SCI Camp Hill. The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill is seeking Corrections Utility Plant Operators to join a facility team dedicated to safe operations and maintaining reliable heat and hot water for inmates, staff, and visitors. Operate, maintain, and repair a boiler plant and oversee inmate work crews. Maintain efficient operations of two water-tube natural gas/oil-fired boilers and two fire-tube natural gas/oil-fired boilers, plus associated equipment, under normal and emergency conditions. Utilize manual and automatic controls; perform scheduled and unscheduled operational assessments; interpret gauges, meters, and sensing devices. Analyze situations to provide resolutions ensuring a continuous supply of heat and hot water. Test boiler water chemistry and water softening systems; maintain logs of test results; inventory water treatment chemicals, reagents, and supplies. Full-time employment, 40 hours per week. Shift options: 1st shift (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM); 2nd shift (2:00 PM - 10:00 PM); 3rd shift (10:00 PM - 6:00 AM), with a paid lunch. Rotating schedule and days off. Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework is not available for this position. Starting salary for new state employees is $47,925.00 annually, with potential adjustments per applicable collective bargaining agreement. Minimum Experience and Training: Three years of experience in operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA; ability to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: Must pass a background investigation and meet CJIS compliance requirements. This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
