Overview
Engineer - Engineer Training Program (ETP) at Howmet Aerospace. The program provides technical training and development for new engineers in investment casting processes, technologies, and manufacturing steps used in Howmet Aerospace. The program focuses on building a strong foundation by exposing engineers to different parts of our Engines business unit. Engineers participate in three rotations, lasting six months each. Assignments are cross-functional and based on individual skills and organizational needs. During the final rotation, the Engineer will seek a current full-time opening for a permanent position at one of the Howmet Engines facilities. Roles engineers commonly transition into include Process Engineer, Product Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Owner, Automation Engineer, or Facilities Engineer.

Candidates must be willing to relocate during the 18 month program.
Where Will This Position Be? The three assignments will be in different plants among the following cities:
Dover, NJ (2 facilities)
Hampton, VA (2 facilities)
La Porte, IN
Morristown, TN
Wichita Falls, TX
Whitehall, MI (6 facilities)
Daily Responsibilities/Activities ETP Engineers will learn the following in the program:
How to affect change within the business:
Develop an understanding of how to prioritize projects that have the most impact to the needs of the business.
Develop the ability to take on technical challenges and deal with complexity that culminates in solutions to the highest priority projects.
Learn how to implement those solutions during cross-functional technical development opportunities.
Domain-specific knowledge areas including, but not limited to:
Casting and supporting processes
Materials used in our processes (metals/ceramic/polymers)
Thermal processing
Dimensional analysis and control
Non-destructive inspections
Alloy manufacturing
Data analytics
Automation
Coatings
Facility engineering
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
Pursuing a BS in Engineering from an accredited institution with Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 graduation date.
Candidates must be willing to relocate during the program.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
Preferred Qualifications
Pursuing one of the following Engineering degrees: BS in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Ceramics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering with Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 graduation date.
Previous internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing environment highly desired.
Knowledge of MS Office and Excel; excellent written and oral communication skills; able to work in a self-directed and team environment with good organizational skills.
Working knowledge of statistical analysis.
Knowledge/exposure to facilities engineering.
Demonstrated technical ability through classwork, internships/co-ops, and projects.
Ability to work with and lead a team.
Knowledge of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.
Desire to work in an advanced manufacturing environment.
Strong analytical abilities.
