Area Engineer - CUB & Tank Farm Lilly Medicine Foundry role at BioSpace. Lilly recently announced a $4.5 billion investment to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry, a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. The first-ever facility of its kind, it will combine research and manufacturing in a single location to optimize manufacturing processes, increase capacity, and reduce costs and environmental impact. The Area Engineer is the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Central Utilities Building (CUB) and the Tank Farm, within the Facilities, Utilities Maintenance & Engineering (FUME) organization. During the project phase, the Area Engineer will support design, construction, commissioning, qualification, start-up and operational readiness of all systems in the CUB and Tank Farm. In day-to-day operations, the Area Engineer oversees and maintains the site’s CUB and Tank Farm, ensuring compliance, reliability, and cost effectiveness, and will drive continuous improvement and local capital investments for revisions, new functionality or capacity. Responsibilities

Be the SME with deep technical expertise in all systems under responsibility, including pharmaceutical manufacturing applications, process parameters, flow charts, and industry trends. Systems include: Medium and High Pressure Steam HVAC Chilled and Tower Water Process Glycol Heating Hot, Domestic, Softened Potable and Tempered Water Oil Free Compressed Air Gravity Waste WFI (Water for Injection) - Pre-Treatment, Generation and Distribution Aqueous Waste and Neutralization Tank Farm Waste (Primary and Secondary) Fresh Solvent Tank Farm (Bulk Storage Tanks and Distribution) Bulk Liquid Nitrogen Ensure assigned processes align with Industry and Lilly Standards Support risk assessment exercises (e.g., FMEA) Participate in teams or work individually to achieve FUME, site and company goals Lead or participate in projects/changes for systems under responsibility, including Design, verification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ), acting as user representative for capital projects or delivery agent for local projects Develop documentation (URS, test cases, etc.) to demonstrate proper installation, qualification, and startup, and ongoing control Contribute to process resource assessment, capital plans, expense budgets, and prioritization Daily Support For Operations: monitor all CUB and Tank Farm systems, maintain KPIs, and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements Provide written operating and maintenance instructions to keep systems within controlled parameters Act as single point of contact for CUB and Tank Farm to resolve deviations, change controls and CAPAs with Operations, Process Engineering, Supply Chain, HSE and Quality Assurance Collaborate within FUME to implement efficient maintenance and reliability techniques aligned with global engineering standards Apply hands-on problem solving to resolve equipment failures, perform RCA lead investigations, and guide operations personnel Provide internal customer consultation on critical utilities issues Identify corrective/preventive maintenance items and ensure completion by required dates Provide technical assistance to FUME, HSE, Process Engineering and/or Operations personnel Lead or participate in capital projects/changes for all systems, including project management, resource planning, budget adherence and IQ/OQ/PQ qualifications Support internal and external inspections and investigations (Quality, HSE) Maintain effective communication with site customer groups Basic Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred ME, MET, Chem E) 5+ years of experience in bulk/centrally managed utility-related systems in a manufacturing setting; pharma experience preferred Additional Preferences

Previous start-up experience for new site utility-related systems Understanding of techniques used in managing utility-related systems Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and qualification Engineering experience with manufacturing plant utilities Engineering-related project management experience Experience with CMMS, U/BMS, and QMS Strong office software skills and collaboration tools Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Knowledge of cGMP principles Strong engineering fundamentals and ability to train and mentor others Other Information
