Principal Manufacturing Development Engineer
to provide manufacturing and tool design technical expertise in our
Plymouth, MN
offices. This position reports to the Engineering Manager, Prototype Build and Test and is responsible for providing manufacturing engineering support to manufacturing of electro-mechanical fuze assemblies. Relocation assistance is not available. Clearance type: Secret. Travel: Yes, up to 10% of the time. Responsibilities
Work closely with Design and Production Engineers to identify, design, and fabricate circuit card assembly (CCA) test fixtures for use in production and development environments. Develop manufacturing aids and tooling based on production needs to improve efficiency and manufacturability. Troubleshoot and repair equipment throughout building to ensure ongoing operation. Develop and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings of test fixtures and tooling. Contribute to completion of specific program and project milestones. Interface with design engineering to create products that are optimized for assembly. Conceptualize and implement continuous improvement projects. Communicate project status and issues to internal management. Maintain familiarity with industry trends to identify equipment to improve fixture development process. Basic Qualifications
Typically requires 9 years of Engineering related experience in a manufacturing or manufacturing development environment. A Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience or a MS with 3 years of experience in a STEM field may be considered. Strong working knowledge of electronic circuits and test methods. Experience with development of manufacturing processes and documentation to ensure hardware and test articles meet engineering and configuration requirements. Experience with supporting the assembly and build of complex electro-mechanical assemblies in development or production. Ability to perform at a high level with minimal supervision, capable of multi-tasking and a self-starter. Must be able to obtain security clearance and must be a US Citizen. Able to travel up to 10% of the time. Preferred Qualifications
Experience welding aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. Familiarity with Creo Parametric or similar 3D modeling software. Experience operating manual and CNC machines including routers, mills, lathes, etc. Proficiency in soldering surface mount and through-hole components to printed circuit cards. Working knowledge of pneumatic systems and components. Experience developing and programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Ability to create electrical schematics and board layouts for prototype electrical circuits. Compensation and Benefits
Primary Level Salary Range: $95,800.00 - $143,600.00. The above salary range is a general guideline. Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, including scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, skills and market conditions. Depending on the position, overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
