We are looking for a talented Design Engineer responsible for the design, analysis, and development of aerospace systems and components, from initial concept through production. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical or aerospace engineering, is proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) and analysis software and can collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design and development: Conceptualize, design, and create 3D models and detailed drawings of aerospace structures and systems using CAD software.
Analysis and simulation: Perform technical analyses. Conduct trade studies and economic factors analyses to guide design decisions and optimize costs, reliability, and performance.
Testing and prototyping: Oversee the development and testing of prototypes to verify functionality and performance. Analyze test data and refine designs based on the results.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and project management, to ensure designs meet all requirements and regulatory standards. Review manufacturing processes and work with subcontractors on the design and production capabilities.
Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, manuals, and engineering drawings.
Problem-solving: Investigate and troubleshoot design-related issues, damage, or malfunctions and develop effective solutions. Identify deficiencies in mechanical processes and develop improvements.
Compliance: Ensure all designs and products adhere to industry standards and government regulations, such as those from the FAA and ISO9001/AS9100.
Continuous improvement: Stay informed of new technologies, materials, and trends in the aerospace industry to enhance design processes and products.
Rate Range: $30/hour to $60/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
