Field Service Controls Engineer – North Carolina
ATC Automation is seeking a
Field Service Controls Engineer
to program, install, and troubleshoot PLC and robotic control systems in the North Carolina area. The role involves troubleshooting field service requests and supporting a variety of automation projects across multiple industries. Responsibilities
Read, create, and troubleshoot pneumatic and electrical drawings, and bills of material using AutoCAD Electrical.
Develop advanced control programs for devices and machines.
Perform electrical testing with voltmeters and ammeters.
Apply proper wiring practices to ensure safe, reliable systems.
Design ladder logic and machine controls using related software.
Collaborate with customers and internal teams to define machine performance requirements.
Maintain a thorough understanding of electrical and pneumatic devices.
Mentor and support less experienced engineers to build team capability.
Qualifications
BS/BA in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years in a related engineering role.
Travel required 50%‑70%.

PLC: Allen Bradley Logix/Studio 5000, Siemens Step 7/TIA Portal
HMI: Allen Bradley, Siemens
Robotics: Fanuc, Kuka, Yaskawa, Epson, Denso, Staubli
Networking: Ethernet, Ethernet IP, DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet, CC Link, IO Link
Motion Control: AB, Siemens, IAI, etc.
Vision Systems: Cognex, Keyence
Desired Experience
PLC: Omron, Mitsubishi, Schneider
HMI: Omron, Mitsubishi, Schneider, Proface
Testing/Monitoring: Force (Kistler, SigPOD), Leak Testing (CTS, Cosmo, etc.)
Database Tools: Ignition, FTTM, SQL
Physical Demands
Stand for extended periods.
Walk, push, pull, overhead reach, bend, and work underneath machines.
Visual acuity for near vision, with or without correction.
Ability to exert 20–50 lbs occasionally, 10–25 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs continuously.
