Overview
ARCXIS, headquartered in Houston, Texas, is the nation’s number one engineering and inspections firm. This role seeks Mechanical designers and engineers experienced in multi‑family commercial HVAC design and engineering.
Compensation will be determined based on factors including but not limited to location, skills, abilities, and experience.

Responsibilities
Produce ASHRAE RTS/CLTD heat loss/gain calculations, equipment selection and specification, and duct system designs for non‑residential buildings using Wrightsoft and final construction documents in AutoCAD.
Produce Manual J, S, and D calculations for residential buildings.
Mechanical HVAC engineering and design of single and multi‑family buildings, low and high‑rise, clubhouses, amenity centers.
Coordinate and attend meetings for all phases of projects from initial phase to completion, utility coordination, MEP internal coordination.
Respond to electrical RFI’s and shop drawings per contractual deadlines.
Communicate directly with clients for problems & resolutions, provide expert advice and project specifications.
Provide estimated hours for new work based on estimated effort required.
Generate detailed mechanical design drawings in AutoCAD for construction documentation of mechanical systems for bidding and construction.
Qualifications
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
10‑15+ years’ experience in Mechanical Design for commercial building systems, code compliance, and construction.
Strong background in Wrighsoft load calculation software; must set up calculations based on Code requirements.
Must be able to select mechanical equipment based on the best solution for the building.
Candidate should be able to work independently with little supervision designing mechanical HVAC plans from project kick‑off to completion.
Experience with VRF systems, ventilation, exhaust, mid‑rise multifamily buildings, mixed use buildings, and enclosed parking garages.
Knowledge of energy and building code compliance – California Title 24, IRC Residential, IBC Commercial, ICC International, Uniform codes.
Strong AutoCAD, Wrightsoft, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook/Teams skills.
Work Schedule Monday–Friday day shift; additional hours, including weekend hours, may be required.
