Strategic Sourcing Manager - MRO

The Home Depot . Position Purpose The Strategic Sourcing Manager (“SSM”) plays a pivotal role in driving procurement strategy, optimizing costs, and managing supplier relationships. The SSM will be responsible for sourcing indirect products and services for The Home Depot, including, but not limited to, Supply Chain MRO categories (Maintenance services and/or related equipment, Operational services and/or related equipment). The SSM will lead a project team, comprised of several stakeholders, through various sourcing steps, to ensure the best outcome for The Home Depot at the end of the project. Key Responsibilities Negotiate for products and services within the assigned product category ensuring the lowest possible price. Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans to assigned categories. Work cross-functionally to improve and streamline processes. Initiate quality vendor relationships to support new and ongoing product and services sourcing needs. Evaluate vendor relationships and terminate if necessary. Work with stores and functional areas to determine products and services to be sourced. Manage the vendor and resolve issues regarding product quality, delivery, etc. Coordinate with purchasing operations to ensure smooth transition from initial deal to ongoing purchasing. Ensure accuracy and timely delivery of orders. Source qualified vendors that meet purchase needs in quality, quantity, and delivery. Identify and qualify vendors to provide products and services, conducting research to assess capabilities and product information. Management and Travel Typically reports to a senior manager. Requires collaboration across multiple functions and strong interpersonal skills. Occasional overnight travel (
Physical and Working Conditions Mostly sitting or standing, with occasional light lifting. Work is performed in a comfortable indoor environment. Minimum Qualifications Must be 18+ years old and legally permitted to work in the U.S. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and project management experience. Financial and data analysis skills. Experience with strategic sourcing and customer service orientation. Experience and Education Minimum 5 years of work experience. High school diploma or GED required; no additional education preferred. Competencies Negotiation skills, product knowledge, strong communication and presentation skills.
