Overview Metro Consulting Associates (MCA), a surveying, civil engineering, and land planning consulting firm, is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented self‑starter to join our staff as a Survey Crew Chief based in our Cincinnati, OH office. This position is responsible for translating project objectives between the office and the field and directing all duties of field survey members assigned to them while performing calculations and field activities such as construction staking, boundary, ALTA, Right of Way mapping, aerial and/or topographic surveys, and any duties asked of them.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain care of all surveying and data collection instruments

Record the results of surveying and verify the accuracy of data with proper field checks

Transmit survey data to the proper files in the computer network, including sending data to the office from remote locations daily, and acquire data for field use when necessary

Prepare legible written field notes and daily records and maintain cut sheets for staking projects

Assist in training staff on field methods and instrument use and care

Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys

Lead survey crew by providing direction and leadership with emphasis on safety, cost control, efficiency, and professionalism

Maintain exceptional internal and external client relations

All other duties as assigned

Requirements

High School diploma and/or equivalent combination of education & experience

Minimum five (5) years applicable experience in the surveying industry

Exceptional knowledge of GPS and robotic total station

Adhere to Company standards and methodologies

Must have satisfactory results on a Motor Vehicle Record check and maintain a valid driver’s license

Proficient with field survey instruments, principles of survey measurement, staking, and marking

Field experience leading survey crew

Basic understanding of the Civil3D platform and technology is a plus

Must be willing to travel up to 100% in urban and remote areas

Excellent concentration and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail

Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams including technical and non-technical personnel

Resourceful, action-oriented, creative, and analytical thinker

Ability to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines and balance multiple projects
