Land Development Project Manager
D.R. Horton, Inc. is the largest homebuilder in the U.S. This role manages vendors and contractors to develop raw land for home construction and community amenities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review civil improvement plans, geotechnical studies, landscape plans, and project specifications to deliver finished lots.
Implement and oversee infrastructure installation, including lot preparation, model homes, landscaping, parks, and amenities construction.
Meet with jurisdictional officials during civil construction, infrastructure, and landscape installation.
Maintain accurate project schedules, identify delays, and report critical path updates.
Track and communicate key milestones to internal departments and external stakeholders (city officials, engineering/utility consultants, contractors, etc.).
Assist civil engineering Project Managers with plan clarification and revisions.
Coordinate with subcontractor offices and field personnel.
Support the bid review, award process, and develop contract scopes and bid packages.
Calculate quantities for budgeting and bidding, and monitor market pricing for budget development.
Oversee field purchase orders and maintain “As‑Built” plans and drainage plans.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national codes and company policy.
Safeguard SWPPP and dust control best practices.
Travel as required, including overnight trips.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications Education and Experience
Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school.
Three years of related experience in civil construction, landscaping, irrigation systems, or hardscaping installation/maintenance.
Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
Proficient with scheduling software.
Proficient with MS Office and email.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.
Strong communication skills and ability to multi‑task with attention to detail.
Bilingual a plus.
