Position Summary The Community Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible for growing, retaining, and maximizing new and existing customer relationships through direct calling efforts and promotion of TRB’s brand, culture, products, and services. The BDO will achieve goals established by management by identifying sales and business development opportunities, leading regional sales initiatives, conducting business development efforts to target new relationships, and strengthening client relationships. The BDO will serve as a sales champion for regional banking centers by leading initiatives and supporting the bank’s internal development and engagement needs. The BDO will also lead regional community engagement efforts, coordinate, and participate in community events to improve brand awareness, create goodwill and promote the TRB’s core values. The BDO will coordinate with regional and executive leadership to develop regional plans to achieve sales, business development, and community engagement goals.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Be well versed in the Bank’s core and ancillary products and services to promote product awareness and manage calling efforts on retail and commercial prospects.
Work directly with the regional and branch teams to identify Deposit, Lending, Mortgage, Wealth Management, Insurance, Credit Card, Treasury Management, Merchant Services and other opportunities.
Collaborate with regional leadership to initiate, lead, and/or support sales campaigns.
Coordinate and attend joint calls with branch staff, lenders, and divisions to provide regular, region-wide sales/business development training, including sharing of success stories and best practices.
Produce monthly reports for regional leadership.
Plan, coordinate, and attend events to ensure maximum ROI on both bank-hosted events and events sponsored by TRB, including event calendar maintenance.
Strategically plan use of contributions and donations with regional leadership to ensure bank investments align with company mission, vision, and core values.
Ensure TRB maintains an active and visible role at bank and community engagements that offer business development opportunities and maximize TRB’s exposure in the communities we serve.
Prepare and deliver public addresses to customer groups and community organizations to expand TRB brand awareness and promote the business of the company.
Work in conjunction with the CRA Officer to increase CRA qualified activities throughout the communities we serve.
Partner with regional and branch leadership to distribute regional announcements, event invitations, event recaps, and other region-specific content. Ensure communication efforts leverage company expertise and position employees as effective brand ambassadors.
Carry out financial literacy efforts throughout the communities we service by developing and maintaining financial education curriculum and regional partnerships. Recruit TRB presenters to provide financial education seminars for TRB clients, clients’ employees, and other relevant audiences.
Additional Responsibilities
Support and promote the Bank’s vision, mission and core values, organizational structure, and policies and procedures.
Must have excellent analysis, observation, and decision‑making skills.
Provide a strong, visible leadership that fosters positive attitudes and trust among employees, customers, and prospects.
Highly focused, able to rapidly determine key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities and ensure resources are properly aligned.
Work effectively and maintain composure when under pressure and manage the stress of performing a variety of tasks with or without numerous interruptions.
Comply with federal and state regulations as well as all established Bank policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree with 3+ years of sales and/or sales management experience in the banking/financial services industry. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will also be considered.
Strong organizational, analytical, sales and time‑management skills.
Strong understanding of business processes, general bank products, services, and language are essential.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for maintaining effective relationships with Board members, officers, employees, and members of the business and civic community.
Positive attitude, self‑motivator, and goal‑oriented with the ability to foster strong relationships.
A positive, “can‑do” attitude and customer service approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy, and sincerity.
Must be able to be physically present in the Bank to perform job duties.
