What is the Opportunity?

The Business Development and Proposal Manager will be responsible for driving client engagement in priority US markets for Aecon’s Civil East Division as well as leading the development, production, and formal submission of Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), Request for Proposals (RFPs), and other required content such as Market Sounding responses and Expressions of Interests (EOIs) for major project pursuits identified by Aecon’s executive team.

What You’ll Do Here

Responsible for the management and oversight of Aecon’s formal submissions in response to RFQs, RFPs, EOIs, and Market Sounding proposals

Lead major proposal pursuits where Aecon is the lead partner in a joint venture (JV) partnership

Manage Aecon submission responses when an Aecon JV partner is the pursuit lead

Participate in and report on industry forums, conferences, and prospective client meetings

Conduct intermittent research and analysis of industry trends to help identify market opportunities and prepare formal executive overviews and reports

Collaborate with the Civil East Team to deliver on Business Development strategies and objectives

Schedule and lead proposal/bid meetings

Participate in pursuit capture planning and drive win-theme strategy development for individual opportunities

Manage and coordinate input from other partners and internal stakeholders

Provide robust tracking and monitoring of assigned/identified pursuits, including CRM updates

Provide regular proposal/bid pursuit status reports

Manage assigned project pursuit schedules and ensure adequate resources are assigned

Oversee and manage assigned Proposal Coordinators to complete proposal/bid submissions

Train, mentor, and develop non-management proposal team

Marketing and communications related activities as required

Package and deliver final bid submissions on time

Travel as required

Coordinate with Aecon’s internal graphic design team to develop critical proposal material, including JV logos, identity guidelines and overall graphical imagery of the proposal/bid submissions

Review and develop a detailed understanding of client proposal/bid requirements

Develop proposal/bid calendars and responsibility matrices

Create proposal/bid templates, resume templates, project sheet templates

Prepare, write, edit, and format proposal/bid sections, resumes, and project sheets in preparation for proposal/bid close-out

Support additional content development, including with corporate Subject Matter Experts and site personnel

Perform compliance checks on all submittal documents

Organize team reviews on behalf of the project team

Attend pre-bid meetings and post-bid debrief meetings and summarize results and lessons learned, and report back to the project team

Operate in a deadline driven environment

What You Bring To The Team

Minimum of 5 years of experience with major proposal submissions in the construction industry

Strong market knowledge

Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Construction

Demonstrated leadership and accountability with strong interpersonal skills

Self-motivation

Advanced communication skills (Oral and Written)

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint)

Proficiency in Adobe InDesign an asset

Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in teams

Excellent time management skills with the ability to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple assignments and tasks

Ability to gather, synthesize, and effectively present technical information for a range of audiences

Experience working in a fast-paced and performance-driven setting

Strong analytical & problem solving skills

Strong decision-making skills

Strong organizational skills; attention to detail

Availability to work a minimum of 3 days per week in-office in Charlotte, NC
