Technical Systems Business Analyst – Overview
Join Bristol Myers Squibb as a Technical Systems Business Analyst and drive digital initiatives that transform patient lives. You will translate business needs into technical solutions and collaborate with Digital Technology teams, business stakeholders and delivery partners to deliver exceptional user experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Translate functional needs into actionable business requirements, ensuring clear communication across stakeholders, delivery teams and relevant Digital functions to support strategic initiatives.
Lead the elicitation, analysis, documentation and validation of user requirements, enabling the development of solutions that align with BMS's mission to transform patients' lives through science.
Foster strong partnerships with business stakeholders and cross‑functional project teams, serving as a liaison between business units and technical delivery teams to ensure alignment and shared understanding.
Develop and maintain business process models, conceptual data models and system requirement artifacts to support solution design and enterprise architecture standards.
Establish and manage a baseline of requirements, ensuring traceability throughout the project lifecycle and alignment with regulatory, compliance and quality standards.
Contribute to solution design discussions, ensuring that proposed designs meet business needs and deliver value to internal and external stakeholders.
Define and communicate the approach for requirements management and change control, supporting transparency and agility throughout the project lifecycle.
Support project planning activities, including input into work breakdown structures, timelines and resource planning to ensure successful delivery.
Manage evolving requirements, partnering with Project Managers to assess scope impacts and mitigate risks associated with changes.
Identify and elevate requirement‑related risks, ensuring timely resolution and alignment with project objectives.
Collaborate with functional stakeholders and Digital teams to ensure successful execution of business cases and realization of expected benefits.
Evaluate solution options, contributing to business case development and recommending optimal approaches based on feasibility, impact and alignment with BMS's digital strategy.
Maintain awareness of existing platforms and technologies, promoting adoption, enhancement opportunities and alignment with industry trends and innovation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical field.
5 years’ experience in project‑level business analysis using standard requirements techniques including brainstorming, interviewing, requirements sessions, activity diagrams, process modeling, conceptual data modeling, use case and wireframes.
3–5 years’ experience in program‑level business analysis leadership.
Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience understanding business requirements, technical concepts and business processes.
Good project management skills with knowledge of Agile principles.
Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal English (and experience in a global/multicultural environment).
Desired Skills
Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or bioinformatics platforms.
Familiarity with regulatory standards for medical software (GMP, GxP, FDA, IEC 62304).
Experience in test‑driven development and continuous integration.
Background in data science or statistical analysis using R or similar tools is a plus.
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and DevOps tools is preferred.
Compensation Overview New Brunswick NJ – US $119,430 – $144,715 (Base salary plus potential incentive cash and stock opportunities based on eligibility)
