Overview
Associate Director of Development II (IC) – The Nature Conservancy, Dallas, TX. The role sits in Dallas and works with the development team to plan, implement, and coordinate multi-year strategies for Dallas area gift prospects, focused on individual giving with potential corporate and foundation giving. The team covers major and principal gifts, foundations and corporations, loyal donor, and estate planning in Texas, with annual fundraising results in excess of $16 million. This is a Texas Chapter position, collaborating with colleagues in the Great Plains Division, all 50 states, and 70+ countries to maximize overall giving to the Conservancy. Responsibilities
Build and manage a portfolio of 60-90 qualified donors, including donors with capacity to give over $250,000. Develop and implement donor strategies; conduct prospect development, qualification, and direct asks aligned with global and local priorities. Identify opportunities for gifts of assets or non-cash gifts (e.g., planned gifts, land gifts) and discuss options with donors. Provide opportunities for donor recognition and increased future giving; engage field and Worldwide Office partners as needed. Present Conservancy programs in detail and discuss legacy giving opportunities; understand project budgets and, when needed, build proposal budgets. Develop a referral network and manage formal or informal volunteer networks; use the Conservancy’s donor database to support activities. Plan and conduct 60-90 donor visits per year; produce contact reports after visits; manage 180-270 moves annually; pursue an annual fundraising goal of $1.5M or more and bequest commitments. Collaborate with conservation staff across local, division, and global programs to engage donors and convey conservation goals; demonstrate curiosity and self-motivation to learn and communicate effectively. Understand and comply with Conservancy gift-related policies and ethical standards as defined by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Travel within Texas for donor meetings, with occasional travel outside Texas for trainings; may require overtime; work environment may include infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion. What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years related experience or equivalent combination. Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents. Experience asking for and closing gifts of $50,000 or more, including planned gifts. Experience managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors; experience working with cross-functional teams and fundraising principles/practices. Desired Qualifications
Experience cultivating and stewarding a pipeline of new donors; ability to build donor-specific strategies. Experience in fundraising strategy development, focusing on identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors. Experience with Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) software (e.g., Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge). Salary Information
The starting pay range is generally $90,000 – $115,000 for candidates in the USA. Actual pay is determined by location, qualifications, skills, and experience. Other countries have different pay ranges based on local labor markets. Geographic location will be confirmed during recruitment. Who We Are
