Provides day-to-day leadership to align patient and family needs with human (colleague) and material resources within the department and organization through collegial collaboration with others.

What You Will Do

Supervises and coordinates patient care on the care unit. Ensures that patient care, quality and safety standards are met daily for all patients through caring and leader rounding, leader standard work (Mercy Way,) and performs service recovery as needed. (Initiative/Daily Management) Serves as a mentor and coach for colleagues by promoting critical thinking skills in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s plan of care. (Skill and Technical Knowledge) Serves as a resource for regulatory, risk management and quality improvement activities to promote improved patient outcomes, patient and colleague safety, nursing professional development and growth. Serves as a role model for professional nursing by demonstrating and promoting life-long learning and use of evidence-based practice. Assesses and evaluates the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs and documents patient/family responses to nursing interventions while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

Current RN license in the state of Iowa. Bachelor's degree in nursing or commitment to complete within 5 years of hire. Preferred Master's degree in nursing or health related field. Minimum of three years of professional nursing practice relevant to areas of responsibility. Professional certification in clinical specialty.
