Where We Are Los Alamos Medical Center is a community hospital located in the mountain community of Los Alamos, NM, surrounded by the Jemez Mountains. Los Alamos is a health-oriented community with its own ski hill, golf course, aquatic center, excellent schools, hiking trails, and is near Los Alamos National Labs. Santa Fe and Taos are within a one-hour drive.

This position provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care as appropriate

Documents patient care given

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family

Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation

Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances

Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient

Qualifications

Education: Associate degree or bachelor's degree in nursing required

Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision; capable of working in a stressful environment

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) current upon hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or ENPC must be obtained within six months of hire or transfer. New grads must have BLS on hire and obtain ACLS and PALS/ENPC within six months. 90 days from hire to obtain AHA certifications; continued certification required for position

Licenses: Current NM RN license or appropriate RN compact licensure
