Work under the direction of the Program Director, Department Chair, and the Assistant Provost of the College of Health Sciences. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of NEIT faculty are diverse. The primary focus is to teach, educate, and train students, ensuring their learning leads to competence expected from a college graduate at both undergraduate and graduate levels. This prepares students to participate effectively in society and succeed professionally and personally. This position begins as adjunct faculty in Fall 2025, transitioning to full-time in Spring 2026, contingent on performance. It is a hybrid role requiring weekly on-campus attendance in East Greenwich, RI, if full-time status is achieved. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty are expected to: Collaborate with the clinical education coordinator, program director, and faculty on program development, including curriculum, course design, and clinical experiences. Teach a four-term year, each term lasting ten weeks, primarily evening and online classes. Supervise students during clinical placements and simulated cases. Coordinate with the Clinical Education Coordinator to maintain clinical placement documentation. Identify and maintain clinical outplacements within students' geographical areas. Design and facilitate clinical immersion weeks within the tri-state area. Represent the university professionally to clinical partners and supervisors. Teach courses in speech-language pathology, covering both theory and practical applications. Attend campus meetings and activities as required, residing within the tri-state area. Maintain proficiency in their subject areas. Participate in faculty development programs and design faculty training with the program team. Mentor newly hired faculty as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned by the provost and department chair.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Faculty must have appropriate formal education, including degrees, licenses, and certificates, and substantial experience in their discipline. They should possess: Relevant education and experience for the essential functions. Effective English communication skills for presentations and reports. Courteous and cooperative public interaction skills. Ability to work independently, maintain records, and produce accurate reports. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS: Minimum Qualifications Valid Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and licensure eligibility in RI, MA, and CT. At least five years of clinical service experience working with adults. At least three years of supervision experience with graduate students or clinical staff. Leadership experience in program development or expansion. Commitment to culturally sustaining practices in diverse communities. Reliable transportation and internet access. Residence within the tri-state area. Preferred Qualifications Experience mentoring students and in adult clinical settings, including language, motor speech, dysphagia, cognition, and voice disorders. Experience with online teaching platforms, learning software, and LMS systems. Higher education teaching or service experience, online program teaching experience. How to apply
