Job Overview The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve our manufacturing processes and implementing appropriate improvements. Approximately 50% of the engineer’s time will be spent in the manufacturing environment evaluating and troubleshooting key issues to drive performance.

Responsibilities

Drive continuous improvement and manufacturing KPIs at the Winchester, VA sites.

Daily work with operations group: troubleshoot manufacturing issues, sample new and existing molds, document process and quality control.

Lead a team of engineering technicians on troubleshooting and improve mold design and production output.

Work with engineering group: lead and assist in projects that drive improvement in automation, capacity, productivity, cost savings measures, packaging and other lean manufacturing efforts.

Support productivity project leaders in measuring performance against customer requirements and executing improvement projects using Six Sigma methodology, data analysis, reporting and process mapping.

Make implementation and results a top priority and regularly update the plant’s implementation plan.

Communicate the status of improvement efforts to plant management and other engineering resources throughout the division. Provide documentation of results and benefits achieved.

Share best practice methods and ideas across plants/divisions.

Qualifications

BCHE, BSME, BSIE or relevant technical BS degree.

Working understanding of injection molding machines and processing.

Working knowledge of Six Sigma tools and methodology, strong quantitative, analytical and process redesign skills, and excellent project management skills are required.

Excellent communication skills to lead and support empowered employees in a team environment.

Good presentation skills to effectively share success and ideas.

Able to work with minimum supervision.

High energy, self‑motivated, enthusiastic, well organized.

Able to work in a team environment.

Skills

Understanding of structural foam molding process.

Working understanding of plastics processing including HDPE, PP, ABS, Nylon, PC.

Demonstrated ability to use Six Sigma and Lean principles such as DMAIC, SPC, Cpk, GR&R, Control Plans, DOE, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Visual Factory, TPM, Kaizen, JIT, Demand Flow, Single Piece Flow, SMED and other CI process tools.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Standing and walking approximately 90% of work time.

Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.

Typical plant/manufacturing environment with concrete floors and moving equipment.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
