Overview
Environmental Field Chemist Class B CDL Driver (CleanPack Chemist) — Clean Harbors, Cincinnati, OH. Responsible for handling, segregating, packing, and inspecting chemical waste in accordance with Federal/State/Local regulations and company policies. This position works indoors and outdoors at plants, labs, customer sites, and assists with lab packs within customer facilities, household hazardous waste (HHW) collections and lab moves. This is a customer‑facing role at customer sites daily and is NOT a laboratory‑based Chemist.

Responsibilities
Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by complying with safe work practices, policies, and processes
Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications
Inspect staging, accumulating, and storage areas for proper housekeeping and compliance
Inspect storage areas and drums for leaks or spills; ensure labeling compliance
Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance
Execute jobs at Clean Harbors customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies
Approve and finalize projects before shipment in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and company policies
Conduct projects/jobs per site-specific Federal, State, and local regulations and health and safety plans
Understand customer disposal restrictions and packaging requirements
Sample and profile new waste streams or waste needing analytical testing
Ensure drum count is correct and drums are shippable per company policies
Follow all local, state (provincial), and federal regulations
Safely operate vehicles in compliance with U.S. DOT and other requirements
Follow corporate operating guidelines and environmental health and safety policies
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Valid Driver’s license
Strong customer service skills
By position, obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment
Ability to perform physical functions per job requirements
Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, as required by position
Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, employees requiring respirators must meet facial hair standards
Preferred Qualifications
College degree in Chemistry or Natural Science
Experience in Environmental Services (remediation, abatement, emergency spill response, etc.)

– Recycling, reuse and reclamation options for solvents, chemicals, oil and electrical equipment
Chemical Packing

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Services
– HHW collection programs facilitated by Clean Harbors personnel
