The UPW Engineering team is a cohesive group focused on owning, maintaining, supporting, and improving the UPW plants at SAS. As a system owner and critical team member of UPW Engineering, you will: Own and be accountable for the entire UPW system as part of one team. Maintain a safe work environment for yourself, the team, and stakeholders. Monitor and improve system performance through trend analysis, field walks, reporting, and incremental operational improvements. Research, develop, test, and implement major technology upgrades to improve UPW quality, reliability, and/or safety. Continuously evaluate and update process requirements, quality parameters, and equipment specifications of all UPW systems. Maintain transparent and frequent communication with supervisor and technical lead on technical water analysis, support, and supply/quality issues. Lead and execute critical projects that support operations and UPW improvements.

Essential Functions

Manage multiple UPW projects from initiation to completion. Participate in and lead commissioning activities; provide subject matter expertise to contractors and internal teams for commissioning or construction issues. Monitor daily trends, inspect equipment, and coordinate with Operations on work orders and process improvements. Support plant operators by developing and implementing process improvements. Own the scope and projects for the entire UPW system. Troubleshoot critical UPW system issues and baseline shifts. Research and develop new technologies to improve UPW quality and reliability; plan and implement improvements. Support instrumentation, maintenance, and operations tasks. Coach and mentor less experienced engineers; develop their knowledge and skills. Lead cross-facility task-forces to improve practices and processes. Be a visible presence in facilities-wide meetings; interface confidently with factory unit parts. Create and develop structured step plans for work execution of process improvement and repair tasks. Review SOPs, PLC changes, SOOs, and other administrative tasks. Lead system-wide trend analysis to drive improvements.

Work Environment and Travel

Most work is in an office environment with daily trips to the field (construction sites, mechanical rooms, equipment areas, fab) as required. The position may involve very infrequent overnight or international travel.

Position Type and Hours

Full-time. Typical hours are 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., minimum 40 hours per week. All system engineers are on-call 24/7 as needed. One remote work day per week may be permissible depending on business needs.

Education and Experience (Qualifications)

Required B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Process, or Industrial Engineering 5+ years of engineering experience in Design or Operations Working knowledge of general water treatment technologies and/or processes Advanced knowledge of ultrapure water and/or general water treatment systems Preferred 8+ years of experience in Facilities, Engineering, and/or Project Management Design, Construction, Commissioning, and Start-up experience Professional Engineering License a plus PMP Certification a plus
