Position Summary As a Senior Electrical Engineer (industry equivalent: Electrical Engineer 3), you will be a vital member of the Oceaneering Aerospace and Defense Technologies (ADTECH) engineering team – an engineering center of excellence within the Oceaneering Technologies (OTECH) group. You will be responsible for developing and implementing complex power and control systems for unique underwater robotic and electromechanical systems, typically for US Navy and other US Government Department of Defense customers. Most projects are one-of-a-kind, offering opportunities to design, build, and test hardware in addition to analysis and design. We are committed to “making it work.” Duties And Responsibilities Given incomplete, high-level requirements for a system or subsystem of moderate complexity, generate proper designs and work to complete tasking with latitude to make decisions under minimal supervision – individually and in a teamwork environment. Exercise excellent technical judgement, creativity, and initiative with attention to detail, maintaining a system-wide perspective. Prepare and participate in regular design reviews. Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineers and other disciplines to solve problems and architect a working system. Supervise/mentor junior engineers or technicians when necessary. Responsible and accountable for results, operating with autonomy but knowing when to seek assistance. Desire to stretch and expand talents, expertise, competency, and responsibilities. Qualifications ESSENTIAL Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or related field with an Electrical concentration). Significant commensurate experience may be considered. Minimum 3 years practical experience in electrical/electromechanical engineering, including concept, analysis, simulation, design, drawing, assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and testing of complex electrical and underwater vehicle systems. Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Government Department of Defense Security Clearance (active clearances preferred but not prerequisite). Must be a US citizen. PREFERRED Experience selecting and integrating varying pieces of high-tech COTS equipment and designing the necessary interfaces. Knowledge of selecting and sizing electrical components, wiring devices, and interfaces, including signal conditioning, power supplies, control devices, switching devices, safety devices, connectors, wiring, etc. Experience with embedded microprocessor/SBC control systems, defining signals, sensors, actuators, and I/O; may include custom electrical designs when COTS are inadequate. Experience with data communications signaling (Ethernet, USB, RS-232/422/485, SPI, I2C, CAN) and related media/protocols in high-noise environments. DC power systems design experience and calculating system power/energy requirements. Electrical drawings/drafting skills and ability to create/read schematics, wiring diagrams, and block diagrams. Familiarity with electronic test equipment (DMM, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.). Proficiency with CAD/Simulation/Analysis tools (e.g., Altium Designer, SPICE, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB). Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting and presenting engineering concepts to teams and customers. Additional Information This position is Hybrid - Remote and requires commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need. Travel may be required occasionally (up to 1–2 weeks at a time). Pay, Benefits And Work Schedule We offer a comprehensive benefits package. Annualized pay for this position is $100,000 – $120,000.
