Job Description
Join a dynamic engineering team working on next-generation stretchable circuit technology in Portland, OR. This role involves owning the full test lifecycle to validate proprietary circuits under mechanical stress and electrical load. The position is a contract role with potential for long-term conversion, offering high-impact work in advanced flexible electronics and robotics.
Responsibilities
Design and execute test plans for stretchable circuits focusing on electrical performance under mechanical deformation. Build or spec out test fixtures and setups for both mechanical and electrical testing. Set up and run electrical measurement systems, including digital multimeters, DAQs, and oscilloscopes. Analyze test data using Excel, Python, or MATLAB. Write clear reports and communicate findings to the broader engineering team. Support failure analysis and root cause investigations. Help define and refine test infrastructure and processes.
Essential Skills
5-10+ years in test engineering, validation, or similar roles. Strong experience with electronics lab equipment and mechanical testing tools. Ability to independently develop test plans and measurement systems. Comfortable working in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment. Familiarity with SPI/I2C protocols and basic electrical principles, such as Ohm’s law. Skilled in data analysis using Excel, Python, or MATLAB. Experience writing detailed test plans and reports.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering or similar field. Experience with stretchable or elastic materials is a plus. Bonus experience with long-term reliability or accelerated aging tests.
Work Environment
Work within a small, agile engineering team where autonomy and ownership are highly valued. The Test Engineer will collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical engineers, contributing to the advancement of flexible electronics. The team prioritizes speed and responsiveness, offering the chance to make an immediate impact in a fast-paced, startup-like setting. The role is closely tied to achieving critical milestones that influence funding and spin-out opportunities.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $51.00 - $75.00/hr.
