Electrical Design Engineer — Richmond, VA

Electrical Design Engineers collaborate with sales, project management, procurement, production, quality assurance, and other engineering teams, as well as incorporating customer feedback to create high-quality power distribution product designs. Responsibilities
Develop electrical designs for critical power systems ranging from standard to high complexity. Meet with stakeholders to gather requirements for new or existing electrical products and systems. Collaborate with engineers and CAD designers on various engineering projects. Create user-friendly operation and maintenance manuals. Validate tests using manual procedures, testing tools, and database queries as required. Foster strong cross-functional relationships with design engineers, the quality department, and production teams. Work with the quality team to assess quality metrics and analyze current product designs and production times. Promote a culture of electrical safety within the department and across the company. Build and test prototypes, analyzing results to guide improvements. Provide support throughout the production process to ensure design specifications are met. Troubleshoot and propose solutions for any manufacturing issues that arise. Produce and deliver key project documents, including technical support files, inter-departmental communications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), production drawings and instructions, test plans, and operation and maintenance manuals. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Electrical design experience, preferably in critical power distribution, switchgear, or similar fields. Familiarity with UL standards, including UL 891, UL 1558, UL 67, UL 857, UL 1008, and UL 62368/60950, is preferred. Ability to interpret electrical system diagrams, blueprints, and schematics, and perform troubleshooting per Test Engineer documentation when needed. Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar software, and MS Office applications. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask effectively. Seniority level
