Job Summary Geisinger's Neuroscience Institute is seeking a neurology physician assistant or nurse practitioner to join the neurology neuromuscular team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, PA.
Job Duties
Perform initial assessment and triage of patients based on information obtained pertinent to presenting condition.
Keep track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discuss with physician, and communicate results and plans to patients and families.
Assist with arranging appropriate follow-up for patients.
Answer and return calls from established patients and their families, assessing their needs.
Discuss plans with the physician and relay information to patients and families.
Obtain or assist in the preauthorization process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
Screen patients as needed.
Qualifications The successful Physician Assistant must be a graduate of an ARC-approved program, eligible or certified by the NCCPA, and eligible or certified by the State Board of Medicine. The Nurse Practitioner candidate must have completed an approved Nurse Practitioner program, be eligible or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing, and qualified to work with all patient age groups.

Position Details Education:
Master's Degree in Physician Assistant studies required.
Experience & Certifications:
BLS certification, NCCPA certification for PAs, and PA licensure; for NPs, completion of an approved program and certification/eligibility by the PA Board of Nursing in Pennsylvania.
