Commissioning Engineer/Authority
based in
San Antonio, TX . The role involves performing full commissioning responsibilities on moderate projects or supporting senior staff on larger projects. Tasks include preparing plans and specifications, managing documentation, conducting reviews, leading meetings, site observations, developing checklists and tests, performing functional testing, issuing reports, and post-occupancy activities. Principal Responsibilities:
Manage and support multiple commissioning projects, including client interaction, team coordination, scheduling, and budgeting. Assist with completion of construction and renovation commissioning projects. Review construction documents and equipment submittals. Develop commissioning plans, reports, checklists, and testing procedures. Assist with system functional testing. Contribute to process improvements and best practices. Perform technical analysis of building systems. Communicate proactively with stakeholders. Conduct site observations, write reports, and lead meetings. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals. Mentor less experienced team members. Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong communication skills and professionalism. Understanding of HVAC and electrical systems. Knowledge of building automation and lighting controls. Familiarity with industry standards (ASHRAE, ACG, BCxA) and codes. Ability to interpret construction documents. Proficiency in electrical and fire/life safety systems. Knowledge of safety practices. Troubleshooting skills. Self-performance of functional testing. Proficiency in MS Office and PDF editors. Ability to travel up to 30%. Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 3 years (4 preferred) in commissioning or MEP consulting. Engineer-In-Training certification preferred. Alternatively, 7+ years (8 preferred) in commissioning or MEP design consulting, with recognized certification preferred. This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Salary Range: $80,000 - $105,000, based on experience and location. Benefits include bonuses, stock options, health insurance, wellness programs, retirement plans, paid holidays, and PTO.
