Position Summary
Kelly Engineering is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician for our client in Addison, IL. This role demands expertise in the assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, particularly low- and medium-voltage switchgear. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical knowledge and hands-on experience, coupled with the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure the reliability and performance of electrical components.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble switchgear panels, control cabinets, and related electrical components using engineering drawings and specifications. Wire electrical parts such as circuit breakers, relays, transformers, and busbars according to schematics. Terminate, label, and connect cables, wires, and harnesses as required. Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and functional tests on assembled equipment. Identify and correct wiring or assembly errors to meet electrical and quality standards. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in electrical systems during and after assembly. Ensure all work complies with electrical codes, industry regulations, and company quality standards. Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote a safe environment. Accurately document wiring changes, assembly notes, and testing results. Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, and QC to meet build schedules and drive innovation.
Qualifications
Technical certification or associate degree in electrical engineering technology, industrial electricity, or a related field preferred. Experience in electrical wiring, switchgear assembly, or a related hands-on electrical role. Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications. Proficiency with hand/power tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, drills, screwdrivers, etc. Basic knowledge of the NEC and other relevant codes. Strong analytical and communication skills. Experience in project management and leading technical teams is a plus. Conduct routine quality inspections throughout the production or manufacturing process, including in-process and final inspections. Maintain documentation of all inspections and potential issues. Assist with problem resolution and suggest process improvements.
