Job Description The Senior Hardware Engineer will be responsible for leading hardware development for new IoT hardware products and design concepts. This individual will own the product development activities for these products including requirements gathering and definition, embedded hardware design, product test plan creation, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing introduction. Key Accountabilities Translate high-level project and customer needs into thorough engineering requirements, functional specifications, and product test plans Perform electronic design and board layout including power optimization for long-life battery powered devices with embedded microcontrollers and radio-communications equipment. Collaborate with and manage design partners in the creation of mechanical product components Collaborate with firmware developers to efficiently design and bring up new products Conduct product level design risk assessment activities to identify and address product quality concerns Own product regulatory compliance efforts Complete manufacturing launch of new products in collaboration with manufacturing partners Develop and explore new capabilities and technologies for future products Qualifications/Requirements Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or other appropriate degree, Advanced degree a plus Demonstrated experience in end-to-end product development (requirements to launch) 7+ years of embedded product design including experience with embedded microcontrollers, peripherals, and communications systems, PCB layout, power optimization, and associated verification methods Knowledge of C / C++ firmware development practices Demonstrated ability to efficiently collaborate with contractors, design partners, manufacturers, and other external resources Experience with mechanical / industrial design concepts and injection molding preferred Capabilities and Success Factors Being Resilient – Rebounding from setbacks and adversity when facing difficult situations.
