The Opportunity
This position works out of our Dallas, TX location in the Transfusion Medicine, Diagnostics Division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision-making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.
The Senior Electrical Engineer performs the layout, construction, and evaluation of prototype Printed Circuit Boards, fixtures, and tools. Applies advanced engineering and scientific principles to problem solving. Initiates planning, organizing, performing, coordinating and/or directing engineering work, and may conduct performance evaluations. Conducts technical studies. Remains abreast of technical advancements and uses effective, cost-efficient best practices.
What You’ll Work On
Experience conducting engineering studies and validations, including data analysis using statistically sound methodology and authoring technical reports
Ability to design engineering test methods
Demonstrated expertise and proficiency with design and troubleshooting
Experience leading cross-functional risk assessments for new products or process changes
Strong project management skills
Deep understanding of equipment functionality
Ability to understand regulations and regulatory environment
Lays out and constructs prototype tools and fixtures required for development
Conducts evaluations, tests and analyses related to feasibility and function
Performs troubleshooting and fault isolation on breadboards and hybrids
Conducts measurements in design verification plans, documents and tabulates results, and provides engineering test reports
Documents custom tools with specifications, schematics and mechanical layouts
Complies with FDA regulations and other requirements; maintains positive communications with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s in electrical/electronic engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in layout, construction, and evaluation of prototype PCBs, fixtures and tools
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to develop new design features as part of existing systems and deliver tool engineering information to aid management decisions
Ability to understand and comply with FDA regulations and company procedures, with advanced PC skills
Advanced credential or professional certification in a relevant discipline; Six-Sigma knowledge and experience; experience in manufacturing of medical devices
Experience in a broader enterprise/cross-division model; ability to work in a matrixed and diverse environment
Strong communication, teamwork, multitasking, prioritization, and attention to detail

Base pay for this position is $75,300.00 – $150,700.00. In specific locations, pay may vary from the posted range.
