Overview

Electrical Engineer 3 - Nuclear at Sargent & Lundy. This remote position may require travel to various nuclear power plants, including but not limited to North Anna Nuclear Generating Station and Surry Nuclear Generating Station. Responsibilities

Under the direction of the electrical engineering lead or project manager, work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers on the design, modification, and analysis of power plant electrical systems. Address challenging assignments that involve investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues. Assist the electrical engineering lead or project manager to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget. Prepare and review detailed calculations, including three-phase AC and DC power studies, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting, and protective relay settings. Prepare engineering documentation for design input for drawing production. Prepare and review engineering reports and studies that present technical information clearly and meet client requirements and S&L formats. Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation. Develop project work plans. Qualifications

A BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required. 3 or more years of experience designing electrical engineering systems in a project team environment with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new plants, or modifications/replacements for existing plants; experience with equipment selection, control philosophy, and preparation/assembly of calculations and specifications. Experience with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution (transformers, generators, motors), equipment selection, and analytical calculations. Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role. Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others. Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in teams and independently. Detail-oriented approach to work. Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience
