Overview
The Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) is responsible for providing the comprehensive medical-forensic examination for adult and adolescent patients reporting interpersonal violence, such as sexual assault or domestic violence, including victims and suspects. FNE delivers quality nursing care to meet individual patient needs using the nursing process and in accordance with the Alaska Nurse Practice Act. FNE assesses and analyzes patient information and history with consideration of cognitive, physical, cultural, emotional/psychosocial, spiritual, and maturation factors. FNE works in crisis situations involving sensitive issues, often with physical trauma, psychological trauma, and substance use. FNE collaborates with law enforcement and advocacy agencies to provide quality services and maintains positive working relationships with team members to ensure patient-centered, sensitive care. Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive medical-forensic examinations for adult and adolescent patients with histories of interpersonal violence. Assess and document patient information and history, applying the nursing process and professional standards. Function in crisis environments with sensitivity to trauma and complex needs. Collaborate with law enforcement and advocacy agencies to deliver coordinated care. Develop and maintain effective, patient-centered team relationships to support the care plan. Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Alaska Registered Nurse License upon hire. National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire. 1 year nursing experience. Preferred Qualifications
Current certification of completion of 40-hour Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) upon hire. 16-hour SANE Clinical Skills Lab (CSL training) upon hire. Hours

The base pay range is $43.29 - $76.06 per hour, with potential additional compensation such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, and bonuses.
