This role emphasizes flexible, appointment-based care to improve access to high-quality veterinary services in the community. Overview Work with Vetco as a relief veterinarian across Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care Hospitals. Clinics are located inside Petco retail locations. The appointment-based model helps manage traffic and keeps care efficient, with trained staff to support operations so you can focus on delivering the best care and patient experience. Responsibilities Provide veterinary services in Vetco Vaccination Clinics, including wellness examinations, preventive vaccinations, medications, heartworm testing, and microchip insertion. No surgeries, emergencies, or sick visits in clinics. Provide veterinary services in Vetco Total Care Hospitals, including preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Partner with the area medical director before shifts to review the case mix and comfort level with expected cases. Maintain digital patient records and operate with on-site labs and imaging equipment as described (e.g., ultrasound, X-ray) where applicable. Collaborate with trained staff to manage operations, client flow, and ensure timely patient exits. Requirements Doctor of Veterinary Medicine license in good standing (state license) Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions including blood draws and vaccines DEA in good standing preferred for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance with license defense policy Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates Vetco Total Care hospitals and Vetco Clinics provide access to high-quality veterinary care in 48 states, with new locations opening soon.
