Overview
The Beirne B. Carter Immunology Center at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Associate to perform sophisticated experimental research in immune regulation of lung injury, recovery and chronic disease development following infection. The successful candidate will participate in multiple lab projects, assist with writing study reports for sponsors, papers, and grant applications, and develop research programs as time permits. The incumbent will attend and participate in laboratory meetings and CIC-related seminars, and work with graduate students, technicians, fellows and collaborators. Full-time research and/or scholarship at the University Prepare for a full-time academic or research career Supervised by a senior scholar; opportunity to publish results Strong time management and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Assist with maintenance and upkeep of the laboratory, as applicable Other duties as assigned Note:
Research Associate positions are for candidates who have obtained their PhD within the past 3 years. Candidates who have received or will receive their terminal degree between 2022 and 2025 are eligible to apply. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Doctoral degree Preferred Qualifications
Highly motivated to develop new research avenues; excellent written and oral communication skills Intensive experience in small animal procedures, flow cytometry, molecular biology and immune cell purification and culture Experience in molecular biology, microscopy, cellular immunology, T cell biology, lung biology, murine models of disease, and human samples is preferred Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary role involving extensive computer use. Occasional travel to attend meetings may be required. Position Type & Work Location
