Overview

Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, the Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation to the patient in accordance with the prescription and instruction of the Radiation Oncologist. Responsibilities

Administers radiation therapy by exposing specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of radiation. Maintains patient charts, noting information such as the area treated, the radiation dosage, equipment control settings, the patient's reactions, and the total amount of radiation received to date. Consults with radiation oncologists and other clinical staff as needed. Requirements / Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program and registry eligible with ARRT. Certification: After ARRT certification is obtained, licensure from the SCRQSA is required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
