Overview
Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States. Full-time Endoscopy Technician. Shift: 7:30am-4:00pm. Reports to the Endoscopy RN/Endoscopy Manager or designee.
Responsibilities
Prepare the endoscopy room and equipment; assist physicians and nurses during procedures.
Handle specimens and perform decontamination and high-level disinfection of endoscopy equipment following manufacturer’s recommendations and policy.
Maintain workflow and provide high level of customer service; collaborate with leadership to support Spartanburg Medical Center culture, vision, mission, and goals.
Complete orientation and required competencies; participate in department updates and meetings.
Coordinate instrument priorities for cases; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and infection prevention strategies.
Assist with preprocedural, intraprocedural, and postprocedural duties as part of the endoscopy team; pass instruments and supplies, verify medications, and support patient verification during time-out.
Maintain aseptic technique; monitor patient safety and comfort; document relevant information in the electronic medical record as directed.
Provide patient care, decontamination, and high-level disinfection of endoscopy equipment per SGNA, AORN, OSHA, DHEC, CMS, and DNV guidelines.
Assist with training of students and new staff; participate in unit-based committees and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications
Education:
High School/GED required. Preferred: Graduate of an accredited CST program.
Experience:
New graduate to experienced Endoscopy Technician; one or more years of experience preferred for the role.
Licenses/Certifications:
BLS (required). CFGIST certification preferred for flexible GI scope techs.
