Overview Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.

Responsibilities

Examining and treating patients

Taking patients’ medical histories

Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays

Making diagnoses and prescribing medications

Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting

Recording progress notes for follow-up patients

Educating and counseling patients

Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients

Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care

Each provider will work an anticipated four (4), eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift which will be assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care

All other duties as assigned

Education

Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants

Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners

Work Experience

2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience required

Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting required

Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred

Licenses and Certifications

National Certification

Active state medical licensure

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting

Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, etc.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records

Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills

Strong communication and customer service skills
