Additional Compensation: 8% holiday pay in lieu of holidays off; Based on approximately 16 overtime hours worked per week, additional pay ranges from $792 - $873 weekly, in accordance with FLSA guidelines for hours worked beyond a 40-hour workweek
Overtime hourly rate: $49.52 - $54.59

This is a full-time, non-safety, non-exempt, fully benefitted position. Work Schedule: 48x96 or 10-hour shift schedule or alternative work schedule

BACKGROUND - NEW SINGLE ROLE AMBULANCE SYSTEM
The District is implementing a new single-role ambulance staffing program. Between October 2025 and January 2026, the District plans to fill 17 positions associated with the new program. Positions associated with the program are: Senior Single Role Paramedic, Single Role Paramedic and Emergency Medical Technician. Candidates are encouraged to apply for the one position that best matches their work experience and qualifications. The District reserves the right to consider applicants for any of the three single-role ambulance positions. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under direction of the Ambulance Supervisor and Senior Single Role Paramedic, provides the highest-level of emergency medical care at both the basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS) levels. MOFD Paramedics respond to both critical and non-critical medical responses working with an EMT partner and members of an engine or truck company on certain responses. Assist crew in maintaining vehicle readiness in accordance with MOFD policies and procedures. Ensure appropriate level of cleanliness for all EMS supplies stocked on the member’s assigned ambulance. Ensures all EMS supplies and equipment are maintained in a ready status such that response is never delayed. Performs daily narcotic checks according to MOFD policies. Responds to EMS calls across the district. Operate MOFD EMS vehicles in accordance with all California Vehicle Codes and District regulations. On scene provides appropriate level of BLS and ALS assessments and interventions. Provides care according to the standards established by the Contra Costa LEMSA policies and protocols. Provides care and transportation to people experiencing medical emergencies ensuring patients are transported to receiving facilities as outlined in the Contra Costa LEMSA policy manual. Provides appropriate care and documentation for individuals refusing care or transport. Follows the direction of incident commanders during large-scale responses such as structure or wildland fires. Performs station duties as assigned by the station captain. Complete reports in a timely manner. Takes part in drills and other training. Maintains all appropriate licenses and certifications. Participate in community outreach activities. Other duties as assigned. Education and Work Experience:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12) grade. Accredited Paramedic in Contra Costa County or the ability to obtain accreditation within six (6) months of appointment. The District reserves the right to evaluate and consider, at its discretion, combinations of education and work experience that tend to indicate an applicant possesses the skills, knowledge and abilities listed here. Certifications/Licenses:
Possession and maintenance of a valid California Driver’s License. Possession of a valid State of California Paramedic License at the time of application and the ability to maintain a State of California Paramedic license. Possession of and ability to maintain ACLS, PALS & PHTLS certifications. Current Health Care Provider CPR certification. Knowledge of:
Applicable Federal, State, County, Local and District regulations, practices, and procedures. Principles of emergency ambulance and transportation procedures including first aid, resuscitator, and gurney operations, including safe emergency work practices. Infectious disease control procedures. Emergency radio communication procedures. Medical terminology and documentation. Emergency vehicle maintenance and operation. Local EMS policies, protocols and committees. Working with members of the public and responding with professionalism. Skills in:
Communicating effectively in English both orally and in writing. Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook email communication. Understand and follow oral and written instructions; communicate clearly and concisely. Handle confidential and sensitive information discreetly and professionally. Be punctual, reliable, personable and professional. Effectively manage conflicting priorities. Ability to:
Read electronic and incident maps and follow map directions. Work effectively in difficult and hazardous emergency situations and environments and carry out work assignments as instructed. Safely and properly transport patients during ambulance transportation. Follow oral and written instructions. Communicate effectively with the public and fellow employees. Physical Demands:
Outside environment; exposure to noise and heavy equipment; work in inclement weather conditions; exposure to hazardous materials. Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing, walking, bending, climbing or crouching; strength to lift up to 100 pounds. Required Documents:
