Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). WORK SCHEDULE

Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week), 4x10 hour shifts

OR

Part-time, 75% FTE (30 hours per week), 3x10 hour shifts

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Digestive Health Clinic is now open at the UW Medical Center’s Northwest Campus. Our newest clinic provides procedural and consultative services for digestive and liver disorders. Our team of UW Medicine physicians and advanced practice providers are experts in the care of patients with all gastrointestinal and liver disorders, such as inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), gastrointestinal motility and functional bowel disorders (irritable bowel syndrome or IBS), esophageal and swallowing disorders, and all liver diseases, including viral hepatitis. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides support with Endoscopy equipment to provider

Obtain specimens

Follow regulatory guidelines and policies to clean and store endoscopes

Call and educate patients on their upcoming procedure; provide instructions and escalate scheduling concerns

Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records

Prepare and clean exam rooms

Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider

Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers

Assist in transporting patients as required

REQUIREMENTS

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation boardOR equivalent

Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment

Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
