Overview
The incumbent demonstrates competency in speech pathology for pediatric, adult, or geriatric patients as applicable for the site/level of care of employment. The incumbent provides patient assessments, develops and implements individual patient treatment programs, provides therapeutic interventions utilizing current and effective methodologies, and maintains effective documentation. Responsibilities
Evaluations are completed according to department protocol, within 48 hours after initiation. Provide effective and adequate treatment following department guidelines, with ongoing assessment of treatment effectiveness. Modify goals and treatment as appropriate. Select and apply appropriate interventions and techniques. Address patient safety with follow-up and, when needed, recommend or obtain equipment. Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan. Educate patients and families using a variety of methods appropriate to their level of understanding. Comply with department documentation policy. Document in a timely, concise, legible manner using medical terminology and approved abbreviations. Reflect all interventions, ongoing assessment of treatment effectiveness, and changes in goals. Address quality improvement indicators and reflect interdisciplinary teamwork. Complete timecards, productivity logs, billing, and other logs per policy. Communicate and collaborate with the team and MD: convey treatment plans and patient status with minimal complaints per year. Participate in team conferences. Verify payor guidelines/authorizations as needed and contact the MD regarding concerns or changes in status in a timely manner. Seek feedback to improve teamwork and collaboration. Delegate to and supervise support staff and students within licensure and practice standards. Provide clinical supervision and feedback to staff and students; precept interns when qualified. Manage time effectively to meet productivity standards and complete projects within established timeframes. Adjust schedules as needed to maintain productivity. Perform other related duties as assigned in a professional manner. Job Requirements
