Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System Job Description The CT Tech 2 arranges patients for Computed Tomography examinations. Produces CT images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Ensures patient safety by using pre-established imaging protocols, and screens patients for safe administration of contrast media. Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and all functions of the job. Provides complete pre and post education to patients and family. Initially, may require instruction and guidance to accomplish the job and should develop into performing work under general supervision. The CT Tech 2 works under minimal supervision and may perform additional job duties. Responsibilities Clinical skills: Demonstrate radiologic principles and theory, anatomy and pathology processes using appropriate technique/position for optimal examinations, as demonstrated by exam results. Policies and protocols: Adhere to department policies to optimize examinations for interpretation, as demonstrated by exam results. Education: Teach radiography principles to radiography students as required by the Organization, evidenced by documentation. Patient/General Safety: Communicate with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent and aid physicians in optimizing performance and interpretation, as evidenced by exam results. Patient experience: Explain procedures to patients/families and answer questions to ease anxiety and assure cooperation, as evidenced by customer satisfaction. Collaboration: Assist physicians in performing examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions and sterile technique. Problem solving: Identify and address clinical or emergent problems that may interfere with exams to achieve desirable outcomes, as evidenced by exam results and patient satisfaction. Patient safety in department: Demonstrate patient safety through use of side rails, braking mechanisms and monitoring; report any adverse or unsafe conditions. Documentation/Communication: Ensure correct patient identification and file matching; track patients per department procedures and correct errors promptly (RIS reports). Radiation safety: Maintain accurate identification and tracking, and participate in safety practices as part of RIS reporting. Equipment maintenance: Operate imaging equipment per manufacturer specifications; perform daily calibration and adjustments; troubleshoot and report issues to biomed/vendor. Other duties: Act as a backup for other technologists as needed and complete additional duties within the required time frame. Qualifications Experience: 1 year CT Education: Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist Program Training: Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist Program Special Skills: Good interpersonal/human relations; strong oral/written communication; teamwork; critical thinking/decision making; strong organizational skills Licensure: Current Louisiana State License - ARRT; Certification in CT Seniority level Entry level Employment type Full-time Job function Health Care Provider Industries Hospitals and Health Care
