Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient-centered care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Essential Functions

Coordinates high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with policies and protocols.

Conducts thorough patient assessments and documents findings accurately.

Utilizes knowledge of human growth to provide age-appropriate care.

Administers prescribed medications and monitors side effects.

Assists physicians during procedures within scope of competency.

Collaborates with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.

Responds to medical emergencies and participates in life-saving interventions such as CPR.

Advocates for patient rights and ensures voices are heard in care planning.

Provides patient and family education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.

Implements infection control protocols to prevent healthcare-associated infections.

Monitors and operates medical equipment as needed.

Promotes patient safety by adhering to National Patient Safety Goals.

Participates in audits, chart reviews, and compliance checks.

Demonstrates responsible decision-making in planning, delegating, and providing care.

Documents patient care and education thoroughly and promptly.

Engages in professional development to maintain clinical competency.

Participates in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Specialty RN subroles (General, Critical Care, Emergency, OR, Cardiac Surgery, Endoscopy, Obstetrics, Oncology, Orthopedics, PACU, NICU, Telemetry, Dialysis, Cath Lab):

Endoscopy RN: Assesses patient needs, explains procedures, obtains consent, monitors vitals, assists physician during procedure, provides post-procedure care and education.

Critical Care RN: Administers medications, manages complex medical equipment, performs advanced life support procedures.

Emergency Services RN: Rapid assessment, performs emergency procedures, stabilizes patients with medications and IV lines.

OR Services RN: Provides comprehensive care during surgery, assists surgical team, monitors vital signs.

Cardiac Surgery RN: Assesses patients, administers medication drips, operates life support equipment, monitors recovery post-surgery.

Obstetrics/Labor and Delivery RN: Educates patients on pregnancy, assists with labor, manages pain medication, monitors newborn health.

Oncology RN: Administers chemotherapy, manages side effects, monitors vitals.

Orthopedics RN: Provides specialized care for musculoskeletal conditions pre and post operative.

PACU RN: Assesses consciousness, administers pain meds, monitors post-op complications, educates families.

NICU RN: Assesses vital signs, manages tube feeds, performs procedures, operates NICU equipment.

Telemetry RN: Tracks heart rhythms, analyzes data, responds to emergencies, provides medication and wound care.

Dialysis RN: Operates dialysis machines, monitors patients before and after treatment, educates patients.

Cath Lab RN: Pre-Procedure, During Procedure, Post-Procedure responsibilities described.

Qualifications

0-2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role or student clinical rotations in an acute care setting.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Strong knowledge of the nursing process and clinical nursing practices.

Ability to perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings effectively.

Proficient in administering medications and monitoring for side effects.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting patient care.

Knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives.

Licenses and Certifications

RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required.

BCLS - Basic Life Support required.

ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.

PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.

NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation preferred.
